The Letters-to-the-Editor Team

We are a volunteer organization of concerned climate activists. Since 2015, the team has written and submitted thousands of LTEs to local newspapers, and we have been successful in getting a good percentage of them published. The team is open to anyone who wants to join us in this effort.

The primary goal of the Letters-to-the-Editor Team is to generate responses to news and opinion pieces that appear in the local press. Responses are in the form of collaboratively written letters to the editor (LTEs). We want to respond to press items that are related to climate change, energy policy, and environmental justice, for the purpose of amplifying the public's knowledge and awareness of our issues.

Here's how it works in a nutshell:

  1. Each day you get an email with links to climate-related stories.
  2. If any of the stories compel you to write a letter, use the provided tools to write the letter and share it with the team.
  3. You accept or reject the comments from the team as you see fit.
  4. You email the text to the paper or submit the letter on the paper’s website.

We welcome people with all levels of experience, and we provide training and support to help you get started. If you would like to join or need more information, please email administrator@ltesearch.org. We will add you to the team email list and send you instructions on how to get started.
